We are leaving Grand Canaria on 8th December for the Caribbean.
The route is about 2800 miles and will take us south west from the Canaries for about 6 days until we reach the steady tradewinds when we will turn west for the Caribbean. Our route will take us about 200 miles north of the Cape Verde Islands – which is a possible bolt hole if needed.
We would expect to sail the whole way and would hope for steady winds of 15 to 25 knots from astern, a mix of clear and cloudy weather with occasional rain squalls. We would hope to average about 200 miles a day – which is 8 knots (or about 9 miles per hour). The total journey should take between 12 and 18 days – and 16 days would get us to Barbados on Christmas Eve.
We hope to be able to phone through our position on a daily basis for it to be logged on this website
